What Is Fleet Profitability?

Fleet Profitability is the revenue generated by a vehicle, route, or contract minus its full direct and indirect cost. It's the metric that ties every other KPI on this page back to the number that actually matters to the business — a vehicle can look efficient on every operational metric and still lose money if it's underpriced or underutilised.

Formula

Profitability = Revenue Generated − (Direct Costs + Indirect Costs)

Direct costs are usage-driven (fuel, maintenance, tolls); indirect costs are fixed regardless of usage (insurance, licensing, depreciation, admin overhead).
